Usually, there is a metal hot pot in the middle of table. When the soup in the pot is kept simmering, dishes are put into the pot. Beef, mutton, fish and vegetables are the main dishes. Though the government has carried some policies to protect the forest and return part of the green, our environment has been still damaged badly. For example, the national treasure giant panda is dying out. One of the main factors is the lose of conservation areas. In the 1990s, people cut trees for making living, which destroyed the forest and giant panda lost their living places, so the number is falling down all the time. Spanish government advocated March 21st as the World Forest Day. They meant to call for the public to protect the forest. In deed, we need such a day to remind us of the importance of green. If we lost it, then not only animals but also human will die out.

as time goes , there are more and more world problems about nature and development. i think deforestation is the most serious environmental problem that the earth has to face.
with more and more trees cut down, many kinds of birds or animals have no homes and become etinct. just a few years later, we will no longer be able to see so many lovely and beautiful creatures which once eist.
with more and more trees cut down, lots of good land become deserts. then the soil will be washed away more easily ,which will eventually lead to floods and draughts .remember the big flood that broke out in 1998? many people become homeless and i will never forget the sad and eager eyes of hundreds of children .but what we should realize is that it is we human beings that has strengthened the power of the flood, for we’ve cut down so many trees near the changjiang river. the disaster is just a response from nature, as well as a great pain to us.
with more and more trees cut down, the power of the surface of the earth to control the climate is being reduced greatly. the earth＇s surface temperature is rising little by little and finally cities along the seaside will be greatly affected.
in fact, desertification, global warming and other big problems are all the results of deforestation.
but many of us have not yet been clear enough about the importance of the problem .you may tell me that you yourself are quite aware of it. but do you still use the only-once chopsticks? and always think the paper handkerchiefs are not enough?
so there＇s a lot we have to change actually.

how i spent my summer vacation.
summer can be very hot in southern taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32"c or more. because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. also because of this i stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky. actually i like swimming think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has ended i went swimming many times with my classmates we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too. so i divided my time between work play during the summer vacation derived benefit from this arrangement.
i spent this summer vacation in quite a different way. i used to run about every day in previous summer vacations,this summer vacation i simply could not afford to do so. i would soon be in the last year of my high-school education would after graduation be up against the college entrance examinations. though those examinations were still a year away, i had to start early to make myself well prepared by reviewing all those things i had learned at school this summer vacation was the ideal time for me to do this. at first i was rather dismayed at the thought of this,later i thought it was better this way because by working hard this summer i could count on endless happy summers to come. with this in mind i then set to work like anything and occasionally went out for a change or did some physical. i was not at all bored by this kind of life, for i was sustained by a hope.
the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them. then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.

i dont know how to begin my account because the service is really bad. please read my letter patiently and do something about it. we would be grateful for whatever you do for us students.
firstly, the quality of the food is bad. for instance, the rice is too hard. whats more, some dishes are not fresh sometimes. as a matter of fact, the poor food has already caused some stomach problems among the students.
secondly, the service is not good enough. some staff members give us short measure when they are in a bad mood. now and then they behave like robbers, robbing you of your appetite. worst of alit they never smile.
thirdly, the price is too high. a small cake made from rice and dates cost as much as 0.6 yuan! it will cost us a good 6 yuan to fill our stomach with such cakes. after all we are poor students.
i wish my opinion would call your attention to the canteen service on campus. we are badly in need of your help.
