Would you want a doctor to operate on you who has only learned about operations from a textbook? The answer to this is obviously a resounding “No!” Knowledge gained from books must always be complemented by knowledge gained from actual experience, to be of real value.
For me actually practicing a particular action or experiment myself and experiencing the result, leaves a much deeper and lasting impression than what I get from simply reading or listening. If I read about how to write an essay or listened to someone talk about writing an essay, I still wouldn’t feel that I knew how to write an essay until I wrote one for myself. It is the case, however, that writing the essay would be based on the methods I learned intellectually. The same can be said for other skills, like sports, for example. The university opening ceremonythe deeply impressing feelings are as much a part of me now as they were a year ago.
As the day to register and become a freshman in FDU approached,excitementincreased.Beingauniversitystudent meant I was finally coming of age. Soon I would be on my own,making my own decisions and doing what I wanted without someone looking over my shoulder.
Despite months of anticipation, nothing could have prepared me for the impact of the actual day.Among thousands of new comers sitting on the broad lawn in front of the famous XiangHui Auditorium, listening to the speeches by the principal and student representatives, I felt myself consumed by a rush of both joy and nervousness. What would college be like? Would the other students like me? And what about the workwould I be able to keep up? Being a student in high school seemed to offer little assurance of my being able to survive college, especially in FDU which is abundant of excellent counterparts. Panic set in.It had been nice being respected as a senior by the underclass students for the past year;I didn＇t quite enjoy the idea of being on the bottom rung of the ladder again.I was not assured whether I wanted to grow up after all.
As if in a daze, I rose up with my new classmates around to show respect to the school song which was to be performed. As the solemn music flowed, I knew that I was hearing not just a song but the foot step of a brand new life. Exciting as the prospeet of a new life seemed, it wasn＇t quite easy saying goodbye to the old onethe familiar faces, the familiar routine. I would eyen miss those days when fully engaged in preparing for the college entrance exams though they were so tiring and the long commute between home and school that took me several hours each week. Good or bad, it was that I knew.
This September, I was one of the volunteers to welcome the new comers and guide them around the campus. I found the familiar mixed feelings shown on their faces. I needn＇t have worried about if I would like FDU, since my year here has turned out to be one of the best years of my life. Although going back to those days is impossible, it＇s comforting to know I can revisit my special memories any time.

First, food. In China, we prefer noodles, rice , as the main course. We like cooking a lot of delicious dishes, We sit together, and taste the dishes together, , when we eating ,we like chatting and laughing, But in England or other west countries, people like eating hamburgers, chips, pizza, pasta as their main course, they eat them with vegetable salad.
Second, dressing. In China, we prefer colorful clothes, we dress them in different place, but we don’t make up; But in west countries, people dress according their visiting places, in daily times, they often wear casual clothes, but if they go to a formal places , they often wear suits, ladies wearing beautiful dresses, pretty hats. No matter how old the ladies are, they always make up.
Third, living styles. Chinese prefer getting up early and go to bed early too. Children often go to different spare schools to study. They seldom go to work during the weekend.

心里很著急自己不會說，但念又想：我已經(jīng)是二年級的學(xué)生了，要給自己自信才能學(xué)好英語。于是，我不再害怕，離開爸爸媽媽，在一旁輔導(dǎo)老師教了幾遍關(guān)于欽料的英語。不一會兒，我就做為小嘉賓在臺上用游戲表演我的所學(xué)。一上臺，一位輔導(dǎo)老師就用英語不停地喚醒另一位輔導(dǎo)老師，然后就用歡快的英語進(jìn)入主題，每人想得到自己的飲料，必須說對飲料的單詞，而且說完后并用英語說致謝語，再互相對碰一下。我非常想得到一瓶飲料說對了“I like”，一瓶綠茶被我得到了，但最終綠茶沒能在我的手中，又被其它小朋友說對了，輪到另外一個小朋友手中。原來這是做為演示用的。連爸爸媽媽也參加了互動，與我們一起比拼誰會說會認(rèn)，還與我們一起做簡單的英語邊唱邊跳，看著媽媽有點害羞的`樣子，小小的我給予她鼓勵的眼神，終于，媽媽同樣也自信起來，而且做得非常不錯。
很快就到中午分，講座也結(jié)束了，我覺得整個學(xué)習(xí)過程生動活潑而有趣，這是一個很好的家人共同學(xué)習(xí)的周日。
