This shows that people have begun to change their ideas about celebration. Firecrackers and fireworks used to be one of the main causes of air pollution and the most important cause of injury during the Spring Festival. Now with fewer firecrackers and fireworks, we see a much clearer sky and many fewer people with injuries, which hasresulted in a much happier festival atmosphere both outside in the street and inside at home. 老北京的春節(jié)廟會
春節(jié)，俗稱過年，除一般年俗外，廟會則為舊時北京過年的主要習俗。除了人們所熟悉的廠甸之外，五顯財神廟(初二至十六)、東岳廟(初一至十五)、白云觀(初一至十九)都是有名的廟會，最富有北京過年的特色。
五顯財神廟的正式活動從正月初二算起。初二一大清早，往財神廟進香者，除巨富顯貴外，絕大多數(shù)是騎自行車。他們多身著各種綢緞的棉袍，外罩馬褂或坎肩，頭戴細氈禮帽。香客們從城里出發(fā)出廣安門向南，當然基本順風，(因北京冬季多西北)。但一出廣安門就須逆風而行了。
紙魚，用一根竹劈兒綴上白線拴好，以便手提;還有成串的、泥胎、外糊金銀箔的金銀元寶，也拴在竹劈兒上。另外還有一種卜碌碌帶響的風車。這種風車系用細篾兒和彩紙條兒糊成風輪，安裝在秫秸架子上，每個風輪帶有白線拴好的一對小鼓腿兒，敲打著一個泥塑蒙紙面的小鼓，大風一刮，卜碌碌直響。
這種風車有單一的，有四個以至十幾個連在一起的。傍晚，太陽平西的時候，你只要仁立街頭，就能見到一輛接一輛的自行車形成了湍急的車流。
