This is a book of science fiction which tells us an exciting story about an English gentleman, Mr. Phileas Fogg, who makes a bet with his clubmates and manages to travel around the world in eighty days. It gives us a vivid description of the many difficulties and incidents which happen on his journey.
From this story, we can see the author's deep love for the sea, travel and adventure, which played a vital role in his life. We are also astonished and convinced by his fertile imagination and scientific and geographical knowledge.

People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. For me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.
My preference depends on the purpose of the travel. On a summer vacation I travel to refresh myself and to see the countryside. When I use my feet and walk on a grass covered path along a river or among the hills I feel detached from the noise of the city and closer to the nature. And when I travel on foot I get more freedom. I can plan my own schedule. I can choose my own route. I can stop where I like. And I can see things and people that I might miss if I travel on a train or on a bus.
When faster and more convenient ways for travel are becoming available, I still favor using my own feet. I get much pleasure from it. People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. To me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.

哇！老爸真厲害，看來這英語我是教定了！很有“天賦”呢！終于有個單詞老爸，“猜錯讀音了�！笔恰绽邸皇恰斩鳌Ｔ僮x一遍，‘普累’。我像位老師一樣嚴格地糾正老爸的錯誤讀者。就這樣，報的速度比平時慢了一倍，因為不光寫，還得一遍遍糾正讀音。許多天后、、、、、、“老爸！這次要寫句子！”老爸聞聲，慢慢悠悠地晃了過來，面露難色，極不情愿地拿起我的'英語書，用一口不標準，不流利的英語給我報了起來。

上一周星期五下午最后一節(jié)課，我們學校舉行了一年一度的英語節(jié)。
這件事，早在幾個星期前陳老師就告訴我們了。這幾天的英語課上，陳老師讓我們?nèi)嘁黄鹋啪毠?jié)目----陽光四季。她先讓我們讀英語歌詞，然后讓我們站到教室里面，排成隊形。
開始排練了，同學們精神抖擻，跟著老師大聲唱著“goodbye to you……”，教室外雖然有點冷，但教室里的氣氛卻很熱烈，我也跟同學們一樣大聲的唱著，唱著唱著，我的背上就開始冒汗了，脖子直發(fā)酸，兩條腿也酸溜溜的，但看到同學們唱得非常認真，非常入神，心想：別人能堅持我為什么就不能堅持呢？于是，我又繼續(xù)唱起來。在以后的兩天里，陳老師請”專家”來為我們輔導，我們每天都有幾節(jié)課在排練節(jié)目，我們排得很辛苦，但老師輔導得更辛苦，功夫不負有心人，我們的`進步越來越大，我心里美滋滋的，對演出更加充滿了信心。
為了我們的表演，老師一直在忙碌著，上星期五早上有三節(jié)課一直在排練，雖然我們很累，但有時在休息，可老師卻一直站在講臺上比劃動作，擔心那一個動作沒做好排練時會忘，老師排完集體，又給我們領(lǐng)唱的排練。在我看來老師一直沒歇著。
最后一節(jié)課，就是英語節(jié)的第一個項目：每個班輪流演唱英語歌曲。
一班表演完了，輪到了我們班表演，我的心情既緊張又激動，隊伍開始走動了，一上去就去瞅臺下，哇！那么多人，隨著音樂緩緩響起，馬上我的心又平靜下來，“goodbye to you，my trusted friend…….”慢慢地我做起了老師排的舞蹈動作……表演完了，我們大聲說了一句：”thank you！”才戀戀不舍的走下臺去。
通過這次英語節(jié)的英語合唱表演，我終于嘗到了“先苦后甜”的滋味這次英語表演我真開心！
